The Jezebel spirit is Rotting the Church: Revelation Church of Thyatira

The deception in this world is wrapped by the adoring outside look and status. This is where the enemy is good for in offering good things to anyone not even seeing the rottenness inside it. The angel of the seven churches in Revelation has shown the Apostle John the status of a church infiltrated by satan. It was known with a good qualities as recognizable by just a finite eyes but Jesus saw the decays which slowly destroying it. Haven’t you wonder about your church status? What would be the connection of this Revelation Church in this generation churches, does it actually portraying its true condition ?

The City of Thyatira :

This was the smallest and least important of the seven cities Jesus addresses in Revelation 2 and 3. In history, there was no record that the Christians of Thyatira suffered any significant political or religious persecution. This city was a center of business and trade. It had many active trade guilds, each having their own patron deity from the Greek and Roman pantheon of gods.

The Church of THYATIRA: (Revelation 2:18-29)

What Jesus knows about the Christians in Thyatira?

“I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first.” Revelation 2:19

Thyatira was the least significant city among the seven cities Jesus addressed, yet they were not hidden to Jesus. Like each one of the churches, Jesus said to the church at Thyatira “I know your works.” Jesus had complimented this church in their Love, service, faith, and patience: In many ways, the church at Thyatira was a MODEL CHURCH. They had four great essential qualities. They had LOVE , both for the Lord and for one another. They knew SERVICE and had FAITH and PATIENCE worth mentioning. “As for your works, the last are more than the first: “ This was another compliment to the church at Thyatira. Not only did they have these works, but they had them in increasing measure — they were growing in love, service, faith, and patience.

What Jesus has against the church at Thyatira?

“Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent.” Rev. 2: 20-21

Despite all the good Jesus saw in the church at Thyatira, there were significant problems. “Because you allow that woman Jezebel:” The center of the corruption at the church at Thyatira was a woman Jesus called Jezebel. The name Jezebel had a powerful association. If we call someone a Judas or a Hitler it means something strong. It was also a strong thing to call this woman Jezebel. “She was one of the most evil characters of the Old Testament, who attempted to combine the worship of Israel with the worship of the idol Baal… Jezebel herself had a most unenviable record of evil.” (Walvoord)

The Rotting Church of Thyatira:

Inside this model church there’s Jezebel; she was the pastor’s “woman” in a symbolic sense. This may not have been her literal name, but a title that clearly represented a self-styled prophetess within the church, after the pattern of Jezebel in the Old Testament (1 Kings 16-21 and 2 Kings 9:30-37). Who calls herself a prophetess: This “Jezebel” at the church of Thyatira wasn’t really a prophetess, she only claimed to be one. Yet, it seems the Christians there received her as a prophetess, and that is why Jesus gave them the warning. “To teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols:” Here, Jesus described the specific sin of this woman “Jezebel.” Mainly, she was an immoral and ungodly influence on others, and led others into sin. Jezebel led others into fornication, immorality and idolatry. This shows how terrible Jezebel’s sin was. She corrupted the servants of Jesus and she did not repent.

The church was rotten inside by succumbing to this doctrine… “the depths of Satan, as they say”, (Revelation 2:24). It seems that this Jezebel led others in the church at Thyatira to discover “depths of Satan.” How could Christians ever fall for the depths of Satan? Perhaps the deceptive reasoning went this way: “To effectively confront Satan, you must enter his strongholds, and learn his depths in order to conquer him.” People use similar reasoning in misguided spiritual warfare today.

“But to you I say, to the rest that are in Thyatira, as many as have not this teaching, who know not the DEEP THINGS of SATAN, as they are wont to say; I cast upon you none other burden.” Revelation 2:24 ASV

The spirit of Jezebel :

Jezebel spirit operates principally in manipulation, control, pride, arrogance and rejection. And the most dangerous of the Jezebel spirit about his evil way of operating in a church, is that it likes to use flattery and deeds of false kindness to gain access to spiritual leaders. Definitely her motives are wrong! Jezebel has an agenda; if she can’t rule the leader, she will seek to destroy the leader and replace him with someone she can control. This is the SPIRIT OF THE LEADER WHO DECLARES TO BE FOLLOWED AND IMPLEMENT “ MY WAY”. A PROUD SPIRIT WHO TAKES ALL MATTERS IN HIS HAND FORSAKING LOVE AND EMPATHY TO GOD’S CHILDREN. The jezebel spirit likes to control everything, hates humility, always flaunts itself and seeks attention, though at times, it appears to be asked sacrificing servant to secure a place of influence and position. This spirit despises the prophetic move of God and hates prayer. Because of this, the jezebel spirit hates especially prophets, intercessors and prophetic people. They are her main victims in the church. When you have the Spiritual Discernment and the Authority in CHRIST with No Religiosity (rituals,practices,traditions.) and Pride in your life, you can Defeat it. As leader, you must take authority and throw Jezebel down (2 kings 9:33) dethrone her and re-establish the order in the kingdom.

What Jesus wants the church at Thyatira to do? (Revelation 2:22-25)

I will cast her into a sickbed: Before Jesus told the Christians in Thyatira what they must do, He first told them what He would do. Jesus would chastise this Jezebel, and cast her into a sickbed, along with those who commit adultery with her. It speaks of both sexual adultery and spiritual adultery. When these Christians honored other gods, they were unfaithful to the Lord who saved them. For this reason, the figure of a sickbed is fitting. They were guilty of adultery, both sexual and spiritual. It is as if Jesus said, “You love an unclean bed. Here, I will give you one, and cast you into a sickbed.” What was the sickbed? It could simply be an image of affliction, or it could be literal sickness that Jesus allowed in the lives of Jezebel and her followers as chastisement. We know from passages of Scripture such as 1 Corinthians 11:30 that God can use sickness as a way to chastise His people when they are in sin.

Jesus’s Love and Patience:

“Unless they repent of their deeds; and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts.”Jesus revealed the purpose for this chastening. His love is greater than His punishment if you only obey. In these words we see both the mercy and judgment of our Lord. Time to repent shows mercy. God gives time to repent, but it is not an unlimited time. There is a time when God says, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever” (Genesis 6:3). This means that when God gives us time to repent, we must take advantage of that time.

Churches in this end times generation are so vibrant, strikingly intense, an aura of the brilliant modern day replica but most are just good on the outside but the spirit of Jezebel is rotting them inside. A MODEL outside but ROTTEN CHURCH inside. A prideful congregations, wearing a mask of being religious but not living a HOLY LIVES. They tend to be more concern with their outside influence status of RELIGIOSITY (rituals,practices,traditions) and EXPANSIONS than the inner SPIRITUAL of growth deepening. Relating their messages to entertainment and sliding away from dissecting God’s Words. Their yielding to sin is destroying the church slowly within until it survive no more in this end times testing of faith. Guard your beloved church from the corruption of the Jezebel within. Get the spirit of Jezebel out in your church now! Hold fast: till Jesus come! We are to hang in there and stand strong for Jesus until He comes. It is only then that the battle will be over.

“Nevertheless that which ye have, hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh, and he that keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give authority over the nations: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.” Revelation 2:25-26, 29 ASV
