By One of the signs declared in the Scripture about the onset of the end times is the popping up of deceptive doctrines and different Gospel. Some will fall away from their faith and paying attention to deceitful spirits and the doctrines of demons. These ideas are popularly spread upon by the “Prosperity gospel” and the “Progressive Christianity gospel”. One also that endangered the church is the popular “Enneagram” personality tool. What is an ENNEAGRAM?
The word “Enneagram” comes from the Greek words “ennea” meaning “nine” and “grammos” meaning “something written” or “a figure”. The Enneagram symbol is composed of a circle with nine equidistant points, each representing one of the nine personality types. Its origin has an ancient Babylonian history. Enneagram as the New Age Personality Tool was established in the 1960s by Oscar Ichazo, who put together a mixture of spiritual traditions in forming this system which was a Babylonian origin. There’s a cult power in his teachings. His system of personality types and even the symbol of the Enneagram can be traced back to multiple roots of Platonism, Neo-Platonism, Christian mysticism, Jewish Kabbalah, and esoteric traditions. Because of these various backgrounds, many Christians, including both Protestants and Catholics, are hesitant to use the Enneagram but are now changing and mostly are absorbing it already.

Consisting of 3 Centers of Intelligence, 9 Enneagram Types, Wings, 27 Subtypes, and more, this model offers a rich map to personal development. The history of the Enneagram is based on varying religious and spiritual traditions. So much of “Stoicism”, the Stoics believed that the practice of virtue is enough to achieve eudaimonia: a well-lived, flourishing life.

Even Rick Warren leads a seminars on Enneagram to the Baptist Church and Tyler Zach the gospel for Enneagram Summit and many more christian influencers. So Christian’s for them can use its power to harness behaviors, relationships to God, others and to life empowerment while Neglecting the significant work of Jesus Christ. They are claiming Enneagram as an image of God broken into nine pieces. Some businesses and churches use enneagram in hiring new staffs as leveling of their biblical status to their enneagram number levels.
Personality test and many other forms has gained popularity among Christians. In 2020, writer Elisabeth Bennet published multiple devotional books for Christians based on individual Enneagram types, such as for the Peacemaker or Reformer types. Each book is designed to help Christians grow into their Enneagram type for their service to Christ. As likened to a Trojan Horse, for it’s a New age “Ego Fixation” that is welcomed unconsciously. For them your outward personality were a coverup of your inner self. The true essence of the self is pure untouched you have the essence in you that was covered by the way people perceive you. When you see the real you then you will understand yourself. Automatic writing is a spirit contact when you open yourself up and you let a spirit or entity to write up things and you get your “type number” as spirit guides. THE CROSS REVOKING THE PYRAMID OF ENNEAGRAM:
While understanding oneself through a personality test is not problematic, what is concerning to many Christians is the spiritualist and occultist background behind the Enneagram of Personality. Specifically, the Enneagram types are based on a multitude of religious and spiritual backgrounds and have been promoted to reach a higher level of spirituality by better knowing oneself. Using the Enneagram test to understand one’s personality could be deceitful, believers need to be wary of basing their SPIRITUAL GROWTH and WALK with CHRIST on their Enneagram type because of the test’s questionable origins and background.
The SYSTEM OF SELF -TRANSFORMATION , which the Enneagram presents to people to overcome their distortions does go against the teaching of Scripture. First, despite the Enneagram’s teaching on human virtuousness, the Bible teaches that all people are born into sin/ fallen or “distortion” (Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:12). Virtue or “acting good” is not the natural human response (Romans 3:23). Furthermore, the problem is not just having a fallen/sinful and distorted nature but being separated from a HOLY AND RIGHTEOUS GOD. (Romans 5:10; Colossians 1:21).
Secondly, the way for people to deal with their problem of sin or “distortion” is not through a deeper understanding of their personality, but rather to BELIEVE AND TRUST in the work of JESUS CHRIST on the CROSS and through His RESURRECTION(1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Any effort on the part of the individual is worthless since salvation is only by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). The goal is not to find and recover one’s “true self,” but to be MADE NEW/BE BORN AGAIN THROUGH JESUS (2 Corinthians 5:17). Only then can a person be placed in a right relationship with the Lord (Romans 3:22) and obtain a promise life of happiness and abundance.
Therefore, assessing Enneagram types is against Scripture, the system is based on faulty spiritual grounds, which can prove dangerous to Christians and non-Christians alike. Enneagram types may be helpful for understanding personality, but in general it’s not beneficial. It imperils the MESSAGE OF THE CROSS WHOM JESUS HAS PROMISED FOR COMPLETE CLEANSING, FORGIVENESS AND RESTORATION IN THE IMAGE OF GOD and so the CROSS NULLIFIES ANY FORMS OF WORLDLY PERSONALITY MANIPULATION. It should be avoided in relation to SALVATION and SPIRITUAL GROWTH. Individuals do not have to look any further than the Bible to find what they need spiritually. Only in Scripture can a person learn about the saving act of Jesus Christ and how to grow spiritually as a disciple through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The enneagram is not “WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT YOU BUT IT’S WHAT DEMON SAYS ABOUT YOU”. Christian’s who are into enneagram are just misled but not really against God. This will lead to more deception, darkness and even death spiritually. Turn away from this demonic age new tools of another gospel. Turn to the CROSS, to CHRIST who redeems us. To know who you are and who you’re made for turn to Jesus and His Words the Bible. Be filled with the Spirit of truth and not of the spirit of error. Do not be deceived! Pray!
