Friendship with God: Is it possible?

It’s been a struggle how to obtain and maintain a lasting friendship for anyone at this age of uncertainties. Building awesome relationships which was Biblically been encouraged as well. What kind of relationship Jesus wants with you? Does Gods really wants friendship with you? God wants you for friend! Your relationship with Him has many aspects: He can be your Creator, a Father, a King, Jesus is your Savior, a Brother and most of all be your Friend!

FRIENDSHIP IN THE OLD TESTAMENTS:

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”James 4:8 NLT

The Original relationship started with Adm and Eve an intimate relationship with God. It has no governmental and religion rules just a simple loving relationships. That ideal relationship was destroyed by sin. Sin broke the friendship, and the fellowship was lost. In the Old Testament times there are those who had the privileged to be friends with God like Abraham, Moses , David, Enoch, and Job. Guilt, fear and observance of the law were more common in the relationship with God and the people in the Old Times. Old Testament priests had to prepare weeks and months to get into the Holy of Holiest to meet with God.

FRIENDSHIP IN THE NEW TESTAMENT:

When Jesus died on the Cross and paid for our sins; the veil from the Holy of Holiest of the outer court was ripped from the top to the bottom symbolizes that the separation between God and men that was going on for a thousands of years was no longer there. Jesus had built a new bridge and everybody has an access in this relationship . Anybody can have the Way for the presence of God in their life all the time. Direct access was available through Jesus Christ! You don’t need a priests to get in the holiest temple for you but through Jesus you can go directly to God. One thing you just need to do is accept Jesus, ask for forgiveness and cleansing, and give Him the full control of your life. All because of what Jesus had done we can make friendships with God and enjoy an intimate relationship with your Creator, Father, King, Savior and your Friend!

“For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.” Romans 5:10-11 NLT

John 15:15 “I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.”

FRIENDSHIP IN THIS NEW GENERATION:

“You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.” James 4:4 NLT

The god of this world has covered mostly the young generation with the evil spell and made them slaves to what this world has offered them. The enemy knows and so clever in which he offers all things pleasing to people’s eyes, irresistible to their taste and entangle their innate desires. The advancements of technology was used to capture men’s attention in friendships with the world. The manipulations and deception were so huge, it capture men to the very core of their hearts and minds which overtake the longing for friendship with God. The world controls their time, values, attitudes, personalities and strength. People know everything in the world but miss things about God, they care something else more than of God.

Exodus 34:14. “You must worship no other gods, for the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.” Exodus 34:14 NLT

FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD:

“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.” John 15:13-14 NLT

You are made not just to do things but to know God. Until you seek after God and know Him you can enter then in a relationship with Him . How a flawed, unworthy finite being like us had a friendship with God? All because of Jesus!

“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” Jeremiah 29:13 NLT

Knowing God is what matters most. You are close to someone if you brag about them, you brag about what you valued most. Make knowing God your “FRIEND” the number one priority in your life. “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ” Philippians 3:8 NLT.We are friends with God but we’re not equal with God. We’re friends of the King but we’re not the King. We can’t say I love Jesus but I obey the devil in my life. They condemned you as you’re a Christian with so much restrictions; they tell: You obey out of fear, obligations etc. but we obey God because He loves you like no other did. “We love Him because He first loves us.” John15:9-11. Aim to belong in the inner circle of God’s friends. Secure your place in there for we’re now approaching the end of times. Do you want God to call you His friend?

“And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.” James 2:23 NLT

“This is what the Lord says: “Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly KNOW ME and UNDERSTAND that I am the Lord who DEMONSTRATES UNFAILING LOVE and who BRINGS JUSTICE and RIGHTEOUSNESS to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the LORD, have spoken!” Jeremiah 9:23-24
